Published by the Senior Class of STS. PETER AND PAUL HIGH SCHOOL VIII, 1951 Seneca, Kansas

Dedication

TO SAINT PETER: * The Prince of the Apostles

* The Keeper of the Keys

* Who prayed, ''Lord Save Us''!

TO SAINT PAUL:

* Fhe Apostle of the Gentiles

* Ardent Defender of the Faith

** Who prayed, ''Lord do not lay this sin against them"

To the Patrons of the Trojans for whom our school and parish are named we dedicate this volume of The Trojan,

“The Building Up Of The Body Of Christ”

"And all work in mutual collaboration . . . for the more perfect building up of the whole Body."

The visible growth of the Mystical Body in our parish began when the first build- ing was raised in its boundaries by our grandparents,

Today we are again viewing the visible growth as we watch the construction of the new Sts, Peter and Paul High School.

But the internal growth reaches back two thousand years as His Holiness, Pius XII, wrote in his Encyclical, ''Mystici Corporis Christi":

"=. ~~. ~=6the Divine Redeemer began the building of the mystical temple of the Church when by His preaching He announced His precepts,'' and again, ''But after Christ's glorification on the Cross, His Spirit is communicated to the Church in an abundant outpouring, so that she, and her single members may become daily more and more like to our Saviour,"

Through its pages, this book will endeavor to portray the daily efforts of the Priests, Sisters, and Students of Sts. Peter and Paul High School in sharing in the "Building Up of the Body of Christ. "!

PAX

The commission for building up the Body of Christ, received by the Apostles, has caused chosen men of every age to take up the work of teaching, governing, and leading men to holiness,

Today in Seneca, in ourage, men who have accepted Christ's com- mand, take His place inour lives and share our burdens and joys.

Sons of the Father of Monasti- cism, Benedict, they come tous with zeal for their King, and reverence for their Master, from St. Bene- dict's Abbey, Atchison, Kansas.

By word and by work they bring into our lives that ''Pax'! which Christ bestowed upon His Apostles, and ex- emplify the ''Ora et Labora'' of the Benedictine Rule.

SF Oom—]nDP>reoremn we

Since Scholastica, Benedict's saintly twin sister, whose soul he saw ascend into heaven in the form of a dove, undertook to live under her brother's Holy Rule, consecrated virgins through the centuries have strivento follow his precepts and to help the Members of Christ's Body by praying, teaching, nursing, and per- forming other charitable works. Among these are the Benedictine Sisters of Mount St. Scho- lastica Convent, Atchison, Kansas, who teach at Sts. Peter and Paul High School,

We step with old Seneca Catholic High, in the light of faith, to a graduated stone. She, onto a new foundation close to the house of God; we, her scholars, into a world of trials and fortune,

We treasure the honor of being the last seniors to participate in the benefits of the old Iron Stairs where we carried our worries and joys. Its steps are dented with the footprints of the past, which ledus to this graduation, We are saddened by the thought of leaving, but gladdened by the thought of our accomplishments, the future ina paradoxical world of joy and sorrow, and eternity awaiting.

With an informal fare well we wish tosay "thank you'! to those who sent us to school, and to those who taught us, played, and prayed with us,

Ina few years we shall rummage through our keepsake box and smile or shed a tear over The Trojan, The Optimist or perhaps a testpapef or ORASEIGO fib

So far we have known no life but the life ofa member of christian family and ofa Christian school, With the help of God we will strive to workhard and constantly as members of the Mys- tical Body of Christ for the upbuilding and in- crease of this body,

BECOMING i LIVING STONES | we

For nothing more glorious, nothing nobler, nothing surely more ennobling can be imagined than to belong to the Holy, Catholic,

Apostolic, and Roman Church, In that Church we become members of one Body that deserves all veneration, are guided by one supremely eminent Head, in it we are filled with one divine Spirit; init we are nourished during our earthly exile with one doctrine and one bread of Angels, until at last we enter into the one, un- \ ending blessedness of heaven.

0 c! Carl Johnson and his orchestra furnished the music for the prom which the class of '5]1 proudly pre-

sented to last year's seniors, Exquisite buttertlies, soft dreamy music, the rustle of pastel colored formals made up the dreamer's holiday which was enjoyed by juniors, seniors, and alumni. Memories of this gala occasion are fondly placed among the

treasures of high school days..
